Default I just fixed my floppy sunvisor

just fixed my sunvisor. I took it off to do the teflon tape repair and noticed there was a screw near the fixed end of the visor where the metal bar exits the vinyl. I tightened that and reinstalled it before using the teflon tape. I had tightened it so much in fact that I couldn't lower the visor. I simply loosened it and now it operates perfectly.

This comes after a couple of sunvisor threads were posted regarding the problem of the visor flopping onto a driver's head unexpectedly, as here:

https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...light=sunvisor

and here: https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...light=sunvisor

Unless "floppy sunvisor" means something other than what I understand it to mean, I can't believe I'm posting this as a newly discovered fix.

Did you have to pull back the vinyl to get to the screw? I've never seen that screw, can you take a picture?

The screw is on the outside of the vinyl and it feels like it secures a collar.

I'll post a pic when I get home.

Great, and it's good to know I'm not the only one here who grew up watching Speed Racer. Crap, we're old.

I bought some VW GTI clips for like $7 each...flat black, metal, never to get brittle and break again. A nice looking upgrade too.

Do they clamp on tight enough to keep a worn out visor from sagging?

Could be after market visors, I never saw that screw on a Porsche 924/44/68 I have seen that on many other cars and after market units.

Default Floppy visor

I just did the same adjustment to my 84, if you'd like I'll post a pic of the screw as well.

You could easily jerryrig a collar and screw for the OEM visor with plumbing parts from Home Despot or Lowes, I'd imagine.

Just looked- my 89 doesn't have that. Not too saggy anyways, though.

I think it's an early sun visor thing. IIRC my original '83 visors had a screw there.

... more evidence that the early is superior.

i used electrical tape rather thn teflon tape, which can roll/bunchup.

""I think it's an early sun visor thing. IIRC my original '83 visors had a screw there""

Not to early, my 79 924 does NOT have them.
