Cooling fans wont shut off, even with the ignition off?
Took the 924 out for a spin today and when I got home I had to pull the battery cable as the fans just refused to shut off. Checking Clark's garage it says that the AC relay has failed. I didnt have a chance to pull the relay to check it, but i there anything else this could be? Thanks in advance!

In a 944, it is often the thermofan switch which is mounted on the radiator, drivers side. Clark's has a write up on it as well. Not sure where the 924's is.

Same place as the 944; at the top of the radiator with 2 wires going to it.
Could be the relay, could be the switch in the radiator. Are both fans continuing to run?

It is most likely the cooling fan relay or the thermo fan switch. The first time I had this problem, it was the relay that failed, the fans were constantly running erratically while the ignition was turned off. As the fans were running, there was a noticeable "clicking" noise coming from the relay, which led me to believe that the relay was the cause of the problem, so I replaced the relay and it fixed the problem...for a while. A few months later, the same thing happened, only the fans were running at a constant speed and there was no clicking noise, which meant it could been only one thing, the thermo fan switch. Good luck!

I replaced the radiator last year and put a new fan switch in when I did that so I hope that isnt the problem.
On the older style fuse blocks (under the dash) how do you pull the relays out? It looks like the relay socket is clipped on to the fuse block, and when I pull the relay to remove it, the whole socket just comes out. Als what does the AC relay look like? Mine are all out of order. I guess when the fuse block was replaced they didnt put them back in to the clips how the factory did.

That is a diagram of the fuses and relays in an early 944, I believe they were generally the same in a 924?

I have the diagram, but my relays are no longer in that order. I had to have the fuse block replaced and I guess the shop that did the work decided to just sort of put the relays back wherever they wanted. On my car the fuel pump relay is in the location that the fan relay should be. I need to know what the actual relay looks like so i know what to pull. Or I guess I could just pull all of them.
