Default Car won't always start

I have a 1986 n/a. From time to time it won't start. I remember reading something about the tach needle not moving when a car won't start but I can't remember what it was. Everytime mine won't start the tach needle does not move. If it is the DME, is there a way to check the DME? I have looked on Clark's garage and I can't find anything about checking the DME.

Thanks in advance for help.

When the tach doesn't bounce it typically means your speed and/or reference sensors aren't connected. Mine are a bit finnicky, so I disconnected them, loaded them up with dielectric grease, re-connected and zip-tied. No mo problems.

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe that a bad DME relay will also prevent the tech from bouncing. I'm sure someone else can chime in and confirm or deny this. Fortunately I've never had a bad DME relay (but I do have a spare in the glove box!).
