How much does your car weigh?
This may belong in the race section, but I am really only wanting info on 924/944/951 cars
I am interested in how much and what you have removed from you cars.
if anybody has any info on specific weights (A/C system for example) that would be great.
I am looking for information on how light I can make a 944 and what would still be in it!
Please list year and model, weight and what has been removed!
Thanks, John

yea it would be nice to actually have confirmed info about the original weight of cars.
I had mine weighed at truck stop tonite. 1983 944. 2600LB with 1/2 tank gas, no driver, just gutted interior, sunroof delete, momo stars wheels. I figure I can get another -100 ac, -50 one piece seats, -50 fiberglass hood. so 2500 is reacheable. and then after that, it gets to stuff that gets $$/lb saved. fiberglass fenders, hatch replacement, etc.

I pulled out everything for my a/c, and I doubt it was more then 15-25lbs at most. The only thing with any weight to it is the compressor.

Not that I've done much weight reduction, but my car weighs 3036lbs. That's with 18 inch CCW wheels, a beefy harness bar, full tank of gas, etc. I can't remember what's been removed, but it's all been dumb crap (the big 80s cell phone set up that the car came with, big CD changer thing, yeah, nothing that really matters).

1988 951 = 2496# with no fuel or driver, as shown with full cage.
Factory body panels except FG rear bumper. Factory glass except door glass removed.
Almost everything not necessary has been removed.

2780 with 3/4 tank of gas. All factory body panels for now. No AC, manual steering, no Cruise, gt3 seats, harness bar, most of the sound pads gone, no driver, no emissions equipment, fabspeed exhaust no cat, odyssey battery, rear seat delete, but the interior still has full carpet, trim, etc, and probably some other things I am forgetting.
Future plans are to go widebody with fiberglass front fenders (for the rear i doubt there will be a whole lot of weight difference), fiberglass hood, full header panel with headlight delete (replaced by running euro driving lights), and probably a lexan rear hatch. It started as my daily driver but is now turning into mostly a track car with less and less street driving the more I modify it. That should get it down pretty light.

DanD, great excel sheet! I modified it and added cost and $/LB. some good seats, a/c delete, rear hatch replacements, and rear bumper replacement seem to be the top choices for cheap reductions
is there really that much undercoating? 120LB's?
