Door handle is broke
Found one.
Thanks!
Now the door handle it self is broke! Ugh,Does anyone have a spare handle, drivers side for a 85.5 944?
The little tab that the tension pin pivots was also fatigued,1st shut of the door the piece broke, another week to find and get parts.
If any one has a part please post and or pm.It would be great if someone local has a handle i could pick up.But ANYONE please pm me I want to finish up this repair!
Thanks,
Paul

My dad's outer handle just broke a couple of weeks ago but luckily I was able to just buy the rod/pivot piece to repair it. Usually that is what breaks, but I have seen a couple break the trigger. I will try to find a picture of the piece for you.

Okay I found a picture of the part on Pelican Parts. The last couple of handles I have seen break, it was the triangular pivot piece on the end of the rod. To repair it all you have to do is remove the handle from the door and remove the tension pin that it pivots on and put the new part in.

Most likely, only the die cast linkage hinge pictured above is broken.
You need a new linkage and pin, for around $22. The old pin must be broken off to get the old linkage out. Take the handle out, replace the linkage, reinstall, and you're back in business.
Linkage: 944.537.261.02 (left side handle), and 944.537.262.02 (right side handle).
Roll pin: N.0233232 (one per handle).

Probably a different problem, but the lock on the driver's side door of my car breaks from time to time. It's a little plastic clip that comes off; I have to open 'er up and glue 'er once a year or so.

At any rate, the toughest part in this repair is getting the metal ball to pop into the new plastic linkage socket. I found a way to do it laying flat on my back facing up with flashlight and a long screwdriver through a hole in the door shell. Got enough leverage that way, and it popped back into the socket with a loud bang.

the tension pin/roll pin are currently a Germany part only. I have 5 on order right now from the dealer. Pelican parts did not have any and said the same as the dealer did.

Are the plastic threaded ends available anywhere seperately? My linkage is fine but the plastic end is almost completely stripped, so there is very little adjustment, and the door handle trigger pressure is set on "Hulk"

Have you looked on 944online.com? They usually have a lot of those little clips for sale for various items. If its not listed you could try calling Ian, sometimes he has it even if its not on the site.

I wanted to order 1 from Pelican, but then the shipping time, and COST ($13??? For a roll pin?? Maybe for my 1911....)
Anyway, I went to sears hardware, found the cutest, steel, metric bolt, and it fit perfectly, and I put a nut on the other end (thin, small, steel), and a touch of loc-tite... better than the original, completely removable, and about $2 in parts.
Also easier to install.

I was actually surprised at the price of the linkage from U.S. vendors. It "only" cost me around 8€ from the dealer here. The exchange rate is starting to really kick in, I guess.
