Watch your mouth, Number One.
What is the stock size? 16"? I think 16"s are really good, but if you want something bigger for looks, then 17" is good. If you get 18"s the tires will be expensive and it will be tricky getting the right spacers to barely get the wheels to tuck under the wheel wells. And the ride can get very harsh, especially if you don't have awesome suspension.

*sigh* these questions seem to be like the can I turbo mah na?!?! ones...
Recommended: 17"
18x8/18x10's are possible, though you do have to get the right spacing.
There are a few with 19's, however I do not recommend that.
I personally, have 18x8/18x11 with 295/30 on the Rear. It gives an amazing difference to the grip then the little 225 on 15's I had before. However they are a PITA to get to fit properly as you have to deal with the outter lip, and on the inside, there are bolts and other things that can rub. I don't really notice any harshness to the ride, however the steering does get "heavier"
If you have a late 944, and put 17"+ Wheels on, do make sure to change to the 968 Caster Blocks.

Stock on N/A is 15" rims wrapped in 215/65/15 I believe...you can upgrade to the late offset Turbo phone dials (16") and use a staggered 225/50/16 - 245/45/16 setup which looks alot better than the 15s, grips alot better, and requires no modifications.

Yes, search for the answers on this question, it has been asked allot. I will say this I talked with my mech about it and he said on an NA I could go to 17in without causing damage to the stock setup on the car. If I went to 18 or 19 I would need to rework my suspension to support the change. Now how big of a rim can go on a NA and Turbo is a question I don't know the answer to and have not seen.

i would recommend some 968 or upgraded castor blocks. 16" is optimum size for performance on an n/a- i know mine did best on the 15's- but i also had 18's on it and they looked great.

Why not,,, I've been running 17'' on one of my 944 for 3 years now,,, always driven hard hehe,,, and suspension and bushing is Still like new,,,,,
I took the wheels of my 911 the other day and put it on an 84 944 that my girlfriends owns,,,,, It's look like a model from Toys'r'us or sum,,, Lowered like hell and 19 inch wheels,,, But,, ,It slowed it down hehe,,,,
