Default CV joint injection?

Geez if its not one thing its another.

Can someone give me more tips on this quick fix method. I'm going to a GTG on saturday and my drivers side CV started knocking really loud today during deceleration in gear only. I'll completely repack them eventually but I just spend $100 at paragon yesterday on sway bar bushings. Its too soon for another order and I'm not looking forward to removing the infamous bolts.

try getting under there and shaking it side to side... temporary fix for sure but it might get it to shut up.

Haha that helped it only make noise for about the first minute of my drive and then shut up. I still would it trust it on a out of town drive.

I don't think its supposed to shake that much either

I've tried the needle injection method and it didn't work very well for me -- too much pain and very little results. The needle point on a grease gun just doesn't get much grease inside the boot.

I'd rather **carefully** remove the CV bolts and pack as much grease in (even if you don't go for a full CV rebuild).

I was able to get a full tube injected into one of mine while on a 5-day trip two years ago. I bought a marinade injector for turkeys and stabbed it in near the small end of the boot. It's been quiet ever since. I was in a bind though, not many Porsche shops in Ft. Bragg, CA.

Well thats going to have to work for now. From what i've heard the axles are not supposed to wiggle much, mine do. Let see how long I put that off for. Either way, I know its going to need to be rebuilt.

Steve, you mean until the most recent skaggs run?

It looks as if there is no way for me to get my dental tool in there. Steve where can I find one of these things? I took the car out today and if was quiet until it warmed up and now its clicking none stop no matter what. I guess I'm going to have to get new axles as mine are shaking and i would be easier to swap in new units.

There are two different part numbers for 951 CV axles. 86 models use a 944 part number while 87 uses a 951 part number. Will a 87 CV axle fit on a 86 and is there any benefit? I'm guessing its stronger.

Did I not see something about swapping over the driveshafts so the CVs run the other way? Makes a lot of sense and I'd like to replace the bolts anyway as they are 1983 issue, as a precaution, so I think I'll do that as soon as it's not 20 below in my machine shed.

Early offset =! late offset.

So no, the 87 axle won't fit.

The CV bolts are not hard to remove. I've had to remove them many, many times, and except for the first time, I haven't stripped any. Just get an expensive 8mm cheesehead socket, scrape all the dirt out of the bolt heads with a pick beforehand, and go at it.

If you can get the syringe thing going then by all means go for it. It's the easiest temporary fix for this, and even if it's not just temporary.

After going to 3 department stores I found a "flavor injector" that looks like a big syringe with plastic body. I'm going to try it today after school with another local 951 owner and see how it does.

Are you sure the offset difference is in the axle?
