As stated, no proof yet to expose/charge the thief.
There are 2 things going on here.
1 is the car.
2 is the individual, who has nothing to do with the car.
I stated, "Believe it or not, I've already had 2 unsolicited reports about the same individual being a parts thief in our 944 community."
Am I being clear? 2 separate reports about one person, who has nothing to do with the car. I was just given a heads up.

Tim, all you have to do is call the local police with any VIN and they can tell you instantly whether its stolen or not. There are several places where there is a VIN on these cars including some hidden ones. Call me if you need me to tell you where to find some of these VIN tags.

There are several other ones which are semi scrambled but I will not disclose that type of stuff to help future thieves do VIN swaps using the search function.

Isn't vigilante justice great drama! If it's stolen just report it to the police and let them handle it.

It might be illegal just to possess a car with an altered VIN plate, even w/o a title and for track or parts use.
It is illegal (I believe) to sell a car with an altered or obliterated VIN, or to buy one knowingly. So if the VIN tag is gone it might be illegal for him to sell it, and for a buyer to buy it.
