No racey (ricey) stuff (unless that's what she likes). Get the dash and console reupholstered in something nice, get new carpets and seats (or recover your seats). Just this will set you back well over a grand!

Buy everything from Jager that looks cool to you. Then take a look at ninefofo's early gauge cluster! Depending on your and your daughter's taste, you can look at those chrome/stainless door sills on ebay and other online stores.

Personally, my favorite mod to the early interior is using the later 4-spoke steering wheel. Not for looks - it just feels soooo much better when driving. The spokes are in the perfect positions, and the diameter is perfect for balancing road feel vs. easiness to turn. Depending on other goals or aspirations, you could look at installing later powered seats, or the later center console.

great concepts
even though the car is only worth 2k....putting 3k into a gut and redo would be fun...we can't look at this for resell....afterall it will have a ton of sentimental value....my 914-6 daughter would never sell her car...

keep the links referrals and ideas coming

below was my first car build

I LIKE that 914. The orange trim on the Fuchs is wild.

There isn't much to customize an early interior, unfortunately. The only thing I'd change on my car is to send the dash to Rob the 928 guy. Maybe you could get white gauges out of a 924S.

What a cool idea. My son is 14 and will end up with my current 328i daily driver and I've been getting him more involved in doing maintenance, etc. Maybe my daughter will get the 951...or not.

Thanks ninefofo for the props, here's a link to the most recent pictures of my interior.

Best of luck with the project and let me know if I can help.

Love that 914-6 you and your daughter built! The color matched Fuchs are sweet!

Not sure how much of an upgrade it would be, but you could try to fit a later dash into her car. I prefer it to the series 1 dash. Then in the space where the radio is, put in a new double DIN Nav/stereo combo.

I have. It's not really that hard, you just have to have some paintence for the glue to dry. Mine came out like this, there leather.

Thanks.
I got the leather from Ebay. It's Ebony Pasubio Leather. I got 45 square foot of it for 90 dollars.
