Default rear-hatch speaker set-up

My dad finally got a 944 of his own. Only having a week with his new 86' N/A, he's already started to update the interior and stereo system. He has integrated a speaker box into the fold-down seats made out of light aluminum sheet and vinyl matching the interior color.... Check it out.

sounds pretty good. the sound seems to resonate off of the hatch glass kinda like a mini concert hall. This set-up sounds similar to my dad's '87 corvette who's speakers are placed around the same area.

You're bringing that to the speed circuit right?

Err.. No offense, but those speakers are 3 way, so besides the woofer they are very directional. I guess it would sound OK when the back seats are layed down, but even then the speaker will be right next to your head and probably drown out the fronts.

That's just my observation though, i do love how integrated it looks. very clean!

ya i totally agree that a bass sub-box would sound better....my dad was going for an easy upgrade without consuming much of the actual hatch space. In addition, the piece is really light and stealthy-looking which is what he was going for. As far as the balance between the front and rear, its actually not that bad. Without the tweeters in the front, the rear was drowning the front, but it stays balanced with the crispy tweeters turned on.

Very nice work! What are those 6X9s? I bet the provide a good amount of bass.
