Unhappy I crashed my 944 :(

It has taken me two days now to muster up the courage to take pics of my baby and post to youguys...

Tuesday morning (11/22/07), i decided to take my car out for a spin to get the fluids running, engine up to temp, battery charged, etc. since it has been sitting alot since i went away to school.

I was driving down one of my normal roads, downshifted into second to go around a 90* turn, and slowed down to about 35-40 MPH. (not excessive for this curve)

Suddenly, my rear end came around almost instantly (not like usual when i can feel the warning signs/limits/etc.) after hitting a patch of wet leaves/road. I then began to drift sideways, with me trying to correct it, but it was too late. i hit a tree going at about 25MPH.

After turning the car off, my first thought was "i wonder how badly my bumper is bent?" since the impact didn't feel like it did that much damage. (I was wrong) I then saw the extent, made sure the car was still driveable (~3 min drive back to my parent's) and rushed home leaking anti-freeze and power steering fluids (lol, my engine always runs cool, so the temp never went above the 3rd bar or into the red, even dripping coolant!). I got home, checked the frame, and sure enough; it is probably beyond repair.

So now i am forced to part out my beloved 944, since it was not insured with collision (with my dad's policy, me trying to sell the car, the other cars on our insurance, and the low amount of $ that the car is worth, it just didn't make sence)

Besides the Pass. fender, header panel, valence, bumper, and frame, and a few hoses, the car/engine is in awesome condition.

I am listing the engine for sale now at $1,900 (2.7L 1989 with a little over 100k mi. no oil leaks/noises/etc.)
If you are interested in buying my car as a whole or the engine, please PM me. I will start to sell all of the parts in mid-december when i get back to my parent's house for winter break.

Drive safely everyone, and watch out for those F$%^&ing leaves!

Thats sad....

The damage doesnt look that bad!! its a shame that you have to part this car.

Hope you will be in the position to buy a good replacement car!

Take care

That's my hope, too. Unfortuanetly, this car was listed on the market for sale, so that i could afford a turbo with some of my savings plus the $$ from selling this one. Now i may have to wait a year or so before i can sell enough parts and save up some more $$ to buy a 951. Oh well, at least i have many years ahead of me to do so!! (hopefully!)

If you are lucky, the car will be worth more in parts.

Where you located at? I'm in Dayton, OH visiting right now. If you're close I'd like to get a look at the car for some parts.

Ouch.. that's a shame. Hopefully you can make enough selling parts to fund another one.
