Ran over a deer today... ** BLOODY PICS ADDED **
Literally... Ran it over.
Taking the highway back home to school, made it 45 minutes of the way then I'm switching lanes at about 70mph because I see someone about half a mile ahead pulled over with their flashers on.. Here a thud.. think wtf? just in front of me I see most of the lane covered in blood, then a big furry lump, BAM!
Before I could even process what was happening, I hit the 2nd deer (i'm guessing) with my driver front tire, pretty sure I was on two wheels for a millisecond or two, and landed , thinking for sure bent wheels, control arms, blown shock, alignment issues, etc..
So far so good.. didn't feel any vibration anywhere from 80-0.. tires not flat.. there is blood and hair all over the driver rear quarter and all over the whole back of the car below the spoiler.
I think my bilsteins handled it without blowing.. It literally felt like hitting a 8inch tall rock at 70.
Is it pretty likely that my shocks (new bilsteins as of 4 months ago) are fine?
Whew.

Race Car
radiator, ac condensor, front valence, oil pan, steering rack, tie rods (inner and outer), control arms, ball joints, sway bar mounts
thats where I would start looking at least. Sucks to hit a deer. There is a stretch on hwy 97 around here where probably 2 deer get hit a week, its crazy. I always see some civic on the side of the road destroyed or a truck with its front end all punched in. Deer are bad news for cars.

Well like I said, or meant to say, the deer was on the ground already, someone hit it before me. I honestly don't know how the valence cleared it. Maybe it didnt and just went back into place. I didn't stop as I was in shock and wanted to feel if anything was vibrating etc, but nothing happened to the radiator or oil pan as I didn't lose coolant or oil, and no body damage amazingly. Just the blood specs and hair stuck to the rear quarter and hair somehow stuck all on top of my rear bumper and around the tail lights.
Steering wheel is still true and didn't hear any knocks on hard turns of the wheel.. no other vibrations.. I'll chalk it up as luck. Scary in the dark to be switching lanes right into two deer in the middle of the road with guts all over the place..
Maybe it was a good thing that it looked like the first thing to hit it was a chevy 2500, maybe it crushed it just enough to miss my valence.

Haha i'll try tomorrow maybe.. but it might rain so it might be too late.
How haven't you seen me around URI? I drive fairly often, and my car is really loud. Look around the back of the parking lot on flagg rd, youll see it. ignore the cosmetics though on my rockers and front fender.. well all over. Some areas I fixed with bondo got messed up hitting cones at autox. My paint is pretty poor all around.
