Default Manual Steering rack - Installed!!

I found a manual steering rack, complete with steering shaft, for $240 delivered. Am i retarded not to get it at that price? Also, since I already have the early offset, this is a direct bolt on correct? Thanks!

Yes, it's a direct bolt-on for early offset, and yes, you're retarded if you don't get it for that price (that is, assuming all the parts are still good).

Doug, buy it! Have just rebuilt mine as a precaution, spent more than you but came with a set of new arms and ends. There is not much to rebuilt, I changed the rubber stops at both ends and the boots, that's it. The only problem piece is the steering shaft, clean it and make sure the UJ's are in good condition. This part is unavailable, though I have found an outfit who will make a custom replacement out of better and lighter materials when the time comes for replacement.

Damn Gina, I'd hoped you would chime in, when are you going to make this source public knowledge? Or is it on an as needed basis? LOL. I know that you did your homework on *this subject b4 you did it, and it's good to see your input.

*NOTE: not that I'm deslexic or anything, but if you type "this" too fast, you get "****". Just a mental note. Look at what you are typing.

What is the diff supposed to be with the steering shaft? Is it longer? I am installing my manual rack as we speak and the shaft seems too short! WTF Finaly got it all lined up, by myself none the less, and it's about an inch too short or so. Grrrrrrrrr.

You need the manual steering rack shaft, it is longer than a power rack shaft.

I thought it came with the shaft?

Doug, if you send the ps shaft to Borgeson (www.borgeson.com), marked for the attension of Gil Evans (gil@borgeson.com), and ask for a copy but longer (i.e: the same length as a manual shaft), they will reproduce with stronger, lighter and better quality materials.

They do very good work for the hotrod crowd, spoke with Gil and explained our dilema with Porsche not stocking any replacements and they are more than willing to help us out.

Now, does anyone have an uninstalled manual shaft to get an accurate measurement for Doug?
