I Saved a 951 Today! Pics Inside of Day 1.
Well I saved an 88' 951 today, and I thought it would be a nice change to post it up as a save instead of the usual parting out threads. It was local to me and had a extremely straight body with zero wrecks and one of the nicest tan interiors I have seen in a long time. The car is supposed to be Alpine White but the PO decided to paint it an ugly metallic blue in his garage. I bought it not running but I ran a compression check which came out excellent on all cylinders and I went over the rest with a fine tooth comb before pulling the trigger. The owner had several calls from people that wanted to part the car out but luckily I was the first to call and the first to bring cash. The phone dials are in FANTASTIC shape, the interior shows very little wear, it has Loyds Mats front and rear and is in great shape overall minus the dull ugly paint job. I am going to get the car running and bring the maintenance back up to par and then the car is going to get a full respray back to Alpine White. The current paint job is horrible and all of the jams etc. are still white, so the respray shouldn't be too bad. Here are some quick pictures of it being dropped off before the resurrection begins.

You are to be commended for saving one of the breed. Where is a medal when you need one? Good job!
What all does it need?
Are you anywhere close to Columbia?

What was the name of the previous owner? I met a guy at autofair that had a car he described just like that and he contacted me about a year ago, asking if I wanted to buy it. I wonder if it is the same car. Glad to see you saving one.

Well once I diagnose the no start issue I have already planned to do the front seals, waterpump, timing belts, oil cooler seals, vacuum lines, and some other stuff along those lines. I also need to find a catback for it because the PO decided to chop off the muffler to make it louder. Cosmetically it needs new emblems, a new console hinge, visor clips, and new foglights. Then it will go in for a new white paint job.

wow....nice work on that. I'm glad to hear that other people are starting to save these cars too (well, I've only saved one so far - mine, but hopefully in the future that will be more haha)
