Imho, not worth saving it, part it out and buy a new one. Fire seems to have originated by the firewall. Maybe a leaky # 4 injector?

Just because no one else has said it, that'll buff right out.

Wow, you know its bad when even lart doesn't make an offer on the car.

I would assume the engine bay is completely worthless, but I would still try salvage the interior and rear of the car, for parts if nothing else.

Dang - That is one of the worse engine fires I've seen. Sorry about that! Was the car cool and then only running for minute? Any damage in the interior?

That really blows Kurt. I hope you get a fair $$ replacement cost from insurance.

I'd really like to get another... but that one was just so perfect for me, i dont know if i could replace it. It's like when a dog dies.... you can get another, but it will just never be the same. It was black on black, perfect leather, M030. The only way i'll feel better is if i find a mint turbo S.

Adjuster is coming tomorrow to decide if it's totaled. If it was a leaky number 4, what would have sparked the fire? The motor was only running for about 8 seconds before the explosion.

I second gina's statements... check the grounds back there for sure. My NA was not too bad when I swapped it but the 951 was 100% bare no insulation for a good 10" in the back. Got a set of IceShark cable s on it now though.

Again, sorry to hear about the car. The pics are painful to all except lart.

if a ground got hot, that' could do it, but I'm guessing exhaust if it were a leaky #4 injector. ever put your hand on the exhaust manifold and have someone fire the engine? Yeah, it heats up GOD DAMN quickly.

Anyway, I'm sorry to hear about that man, it's rough. I dread that happening, and like others, have had nightmares.
