Default No Heat!

One of the first colder days to hit Ohio, I go for a drive and after ten minutes notice the air blowing is cold, as I'd left the **** in the blue for summer driving. I flip it all the way to the red, expecting a rush of heat seconds later, only to find the air is still cold! Called up Andy K, who suggested it was a vacuum hose leak. So the next day I went out, popped the hood, checked every hose, all snug and secure. Great. Fire er up and wait ten minutes, then try the heat. Nothing.

After searching some of the threads here, I also found someone solved this by simply toggling back and forth between hot and cold air for a little while. This did nothing. It isn't the hoses, it isn't the heater clips, I don't know what's going on.

Anyone else have this problem before?

Girlfriends car had this problem!

It used to blow heat ALL the time, then I fixed the heater clip- and it NEVER blew heat!

I just busted the heater clip under the dash and hot air again.

Never figured out what it was

Okay, so is there a solution that doesn't require me breaking the heater clip -- Rock, it's OHIO, you should know that even though it's almost November, I could be driving in 80 degree weather just as often as I would 30.

Do you still talk like Triumph the Insult Comic dog?

I guess I'll keep it in mind if nothing else seems to work.

I'm looking for the answer to the same question. I have been running the A/C all summer and now no heat. Last winter I had a heater you could keep your coffee hot with, now nothing!

When the clip breaks the heat is stuck ON. Not OFF.

If the heater control valve is working correctly, and is connected, the culprit I would suspect next would be the climate control unit. I went through this problem a few years back and the only thing that fixed it was replacing the climate control unit itself. The old one was bad and it wouldn't actuate the flapper door (the one where the clip is attached to the actuator). In the meanwhile, since it is starting to get colder in Ohio, you might try UN-clipping (not breaking) the little plastic clip. This will imitate the broken state of the flapper door allowing heat to flow into the cabin. I used this method for a little bit until I replaced the unit.

Have you tried to bleed the coolant system with the heat on?

yeah either you need to bleed the air pocket out of the cooling system, someone put the clip on wrong and the door is always closed-can happen- or the vac lines down behind the cam housing came off....

That's what I'm worried about a bit more than the heat! What good is driving a refrigerator if the engine blows up on you?
