I Need Serious Help
someone backed into the front of my car and pushed in the passenger side of the bumper. now the sock absorber is pushed in and wont come back out, is it supposed to spring back? how would i fix it?

Unfortunately, if it was only a bumper shock pushed in it would have no effect on headlight operation. It sounds like you might have more damage than just a bumper shock....

they're supposed to spring back unless they've been wolfe modded or are otherwise in non working order. take your front bumper off (its easy as there are only two bolts holding it in). take a hook or something, attach it to the shock and pull it out like there's no tomorrow. that should last you until you get where you need to be going. then get yourself a new shock from dan. you'll want to check everything around it though to make sure nothing else got bent or otherwise.

did the front of your car get hit from an angle? that could have possibly pushed the shock in at a weird angle too causing it to not pop out again.
+1 on the headlight thing, best thing you could do is drive with one headlight up and fix it in the morning.

your talking about the two bolts directly under your bumper right? those shouldn't move at all. looking under your bumper there should be two half-dollar sized holes. i forgot what size socket you'll need but pull those two bolts and your bumper should come right off. from there you'll have unlimited access to your bumper shocks.

they dont spring back- they are one time use- you can pull them out if you put a tow strap on the bumper and tie it to a telephone pull and back up slowly. -carefully!!! If your headlights arent going up they have been pushed back pretty well and bent the sheetmetal under the bumper.
