What type of hose did you guys buy? What do you about the metal fitting that threads into the slave cylinder?

This is the blue fabric covered rubber hose that only goes between the reservoir and the master cylinder on the firewall. Not the one between the master and slave cylinder. http://www.paragon-products.com/prod....020.350.1.htm

And as Scott said, you only need about 1ft. I bought 2ft and have about 1ft left.

lol, I'm not thinking straight today.. I have like 80 tabs open looking at all sorts of threads and jumbled my thoughts..

I was wondering if anyone was able to source that hose locally, the local NAPA didn't have anything for me.

thanks!

I was unable to find anything that would work in place of that hose locally. Because the hose is for the brake fluid you aren't able to use generic rubber hose in its place, or something like that. I ended up buying some from paragon. If there are any porsche/european specific parts stores in your area, you might want to check those.

I was able to get an adequate replacement from a NAPA 4 years ago that has held up fine. You just have to tell them that it's for a braking system (i.e., needs to be compatible with hydraulic fluid) and they can match it up. I needed it pronto in a pinch, otherwise I would suggest just ordering the proper part given how cheap it is.

The connectors used are crimp on, an easy way to reuse them is spread them open, and use those flat jawed dykes to recrimp them.

I cut off those sucky crimp connectors. Those things are one of the main reasons that stupid 90 degree plastic fitting on the master cylinder breaks. I hated that stupid thing. Ran the whole year of track days with worm clamps... no issue, and much easier to remove and fit in the future.

Worm clamps pinch the hose and "can" cause leaks. I would assume that the reason the nipple breaks on the m/c is due to the constant pressure of the hose pulling on it.

I use the good worm clamps, like the stock ones on the cooling system. Readily available from McMaster Carr in all sorts of sizes.

Mark, I meant trying to get the damn thing off! That was one of the biggest nightmares in my whole rebuild. Just a tight space and not a lot of room to work.
