I see you're running 0/0-18 sized tires

I have 951 engine on the stand now, and stripped of allmost everything, next it's going to slovenia's best tuner and owner of this car: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxMul...eature=related
he will reseal everything with new seals and take care that everything goes together as it should and that everything is in order, than I will start the transplant..

I am still missing some parts, but it's slowly all coming together the only problem is that parts are not cheap arroud here and if I order anything from us, I have to pay extra 20% customs charge + shipping :|

god I hope I win lotto this time

How many differences between this photo, and what the factory actually made?

well the things you cant see immediately are just as significant. the pistons are much lower compression, the rods are different, the transmission is stronger with harder 1st/2nd gear in the 86/87 cars and a harder differential on 88/89 cars also, along with taller gear ratios. also the front structure of the car was changed from early cars

few days ago I finally bought a propane heater for garage, so now I can slowly continue with my project.. so far it was pretty much on pause, since my day to day audi set himself on fire and I had to get a new reliable car to get me from home to job and so on.. I switched from stinky diesel audi to propane powered bmw e39 528i (me loves ) but the sacrifice was this project, so now I'll try to catch up a bit, since I'd love to finish it till the spring or so

I have one question regarding clutch, I don't know how thick is stock 951S clutch, so how much life does this clutch have?

this is my working mess

had you considered a 'dry' turbo install. it should keep you from having to install all of the water cooling mess.

an extra large oil cooler should keep the turbo temps down

The turbo I got is in very good shape so I'll use this one, and put everything together more or less as factory did. except manual boost controler with valve and custom exhaust.

I still don't know what diameter would be best for exhaust.. 3" or 4" that's the question now

Im still not in the working mood since its really cold here and garage is only heated by chimney from the central heating. while waiting for a little warmer weather to get the old engine and everything out, I fiddle arround a bit with those small tings and ofcorse trying the wheels on, and admiring it from multiple angles

Ok, now after more than one year, project continues.
I had a long pause and had to build new engine for my 528i and had some other places to invest money to..

But now the time seems right, so I opened up the TS engine and found some scratches on cylinder #1 and #4. I would like to know how bad is that, is it hone time bad or is this just new set of rings & go bad? Can these scratches be rectified any other way than with honing?

personally if it were me and I had the cash I'd just bore that baby over a bit and drop slightly larger pistons.

FWIW, I had bores that looked a little worse and I have ran it for over 60K miles. It doesn't burn oil and compression is solid. (knock on wood! ) Run it and enjoy it!

The rule of thumb is if you don't catch your nail on it, Leave it alone. Remember you can't just bore these cylinder without a lot of money involved due to the coating.

BTW, they don't look that bad.
