How do you mean catch? I can feel it if I sweep over it with nail...

I was searching arround and I found this: http://www.djhowie.plus.com/porsche.html

Is it possible that block scored as bad as this is runing fine?

Search the previous posts as I have listed in detail how the block can be honed. The "coating" is not a coating as the entire cylinder wall is made of the same material. You just have to remove the aluminum to expose the silica after honing. The pistons will cost you a bundle though.

I have seen cylinders with much more scratches not smoke or consume noticeable amounts of oil.

For now I think I will just go with these few scratches and rebuild everything else. Later If for some reason (MORE POWER) I decide to do it again , I will then be investing in some new mahles and pauters to go with them.

Legoland951: do you remember what tread to search, I am searching but find noting useful except the factory manual procedure.. I was wondering about that factory procedure, since it doesnt involve any recoating, so what you say makes sense. Although apperance (white and very slippery) automatically makes one think that it is coating of some sort.

Today I got delivery from somewhere arround Washington (Leesburg I think) and it contained lovely 951 clutch set, plus I got back first batch of parts that were sent for zinc re-coating, and I must say I love the results

I did this last year. The car is called the Hulk by my region. The things you need to do that make a difference is, put all the correct heat shields, change the thermo to a lower degree, all new hoses, new upgraded head gasket, all new sensors, tb, wp, tensioner, K26 turbo, Turbo trans with cooler, Oil cooler, Turbo cooler, 3 bar regulator, 4" exhuast, adjable wastegate, new gauges, and larger injectors. The end result will be 400+RWHP beast that is a sleeper. I still have the 944 insignia on the back. The shop that did this for me really knew their stuff. It pays to use the best. Now I cruise in my 928 and race in my 951. I have doors if you need them plus a mess of extra stuff as well. Good luck and enjoy.

I will put heat shields as they were in original 951s car, new hoses too, widefire headgasket, OE piston rings and all bearings, rebuilt engine head, new sensors, new waterpump, rollers and belts, turbo is from the doner allso and is stock K-26#8(water cooled), trans is from 951s too, stock oil cooler, I will upgrade to adjustible wastegate (but I dont have it yet), vdo boost gauge and vdo oil temp gauge. Exhaust will be custom made stainless exhaust, made by local exhaust guru that makes exhaust systems for WRC cars. Allso Akrapovič factory is 3 miles away from my home, so I'll figure something out
I will allso use raceware or arp head and rod bolts. ( I don't really get the difference between arp and raceware except arp has nicer price? )

The brain has BBR GTI chip with raised boost to 15psi, so acording to provided documentation it produced 312bhp and 322lb/ft torque.

If I would upgrade injectors and regulator to 3 bar , what size injectors would I have to use, and what else is needed for this to work properly? Im thinking DME remapping?

I will allso install ABS, turbo S brakes, suspension, arms, 26,8mm front and 25,5mm rear anti sway bar, loose air con and power steering and some other stuff that I dont need, fit mitsubishi alternator and reupholster interior in dark wine red leather and paint it white.. I love porsche sport seats in leather. Best seats ever.

Do you have any project Hulk pics? Id love to see what does it look like

This is great, I'm doing the same thing actually. It's a pain trying to get all those small little parts that are turbo specific.

The most problematic part to get so far as far as my build goes was the blue nose panel.

And I got fu**ed from german auto dismantlers for $300. (bought turbo rear vailance from them and they never sent it, neither did they refund) Nice people.

It is funny though that I live close to Germany, but order allmost every single part from usa, than I pay +30% for customs and tax and it is still 50% cheaper than here.

You guys get these parts for free. More or less.

For instance, new 951 clutch set here costs 2250€ ($3130) I got new set from usa for cca $600.

doabarrelroll: do you have any pictures of your build?

Nope, these are rods from this engine. And it is engine from turbo S...

Are these N/A rods? I found it a little wierd that they have cast lines on them and as far as I know they should be forged.

If your engine is model year 1991 it might be possible to find these rods from 951 engine. On last model year they used what ever rods they happend to found
If your engine is older, then someone have changed original rods to N/A ones. If you need "genuine" 951 rods, let me know i have several sets available like new stainless billet ones as well. Takes about 3-5 days to ship from Finland to Slovenia.
