This was welded without any filler metal since I forgot to buy it Yes spatter is from tungsten diving and igniting without HF which has a mind of its own on this machine. Sometimes it ignites ok, other times no-go, scratch start only. It sucks. I will probably invest in a modern lightweight machine but since they are very expensive, this one will have to suffice for learning. For actual exhaust work I will borrow professional Kemppi welder.
I grind tungsten with bench grinder in a way that grind marks are toward the tip and only use 3.2mm tungstens since I cant find adapters for smaller diameter tungstens for this old machine.

At the moment I have a bit of a problem with changing piston crown to 4V dish.
Its business as usual here, everybody wants to earn big time since its porsche something.
First estimate for CNC I got was 1500€.. Gotta love the optimism
I also need all the rubber hoses and related stuff, some sort of intake, exhaust, brakes.. Lots of details, but Ill get there eventually..

why not just buy a set of 104/104.5mm 16v wossners for $1000USD and have the right piston from the get go?

Two reasons, first I want ferrostan coating which is now banned, second I'd have to sell these and loose shipping, tax and customs $.
Ill get that crown done sooner or later.
Do you have any 16v 3.0 stock piston or 104mm 16v piston tech drawing? I could use exact valve cut positions..
At the moment I am waiting for 16v exhaust header, ARP 16v head studs, hayabusa ITBs and few gaskets.
Got ebay intake 968 gasket today. Some genius packed it like a pro:

If anything I will glue a circular piece of sponge to valve head and dye it so I can dye positions and then mill them with lathe.
No problem, they refunded me today. It just makes me wonder how can they run car parts shop if this is the way they pack stuff. If at least they would bend it in non critical seal area, but no..

Great, thank you!
I will take picture of torch and its components when I come home. It has 4T finger control, no pedal. I was welding in the 60-100 range so definitely wrong tungsten.
What do you think about this welder? Seems decent spec and very nice price..

Check out this link. All tig torches old, new, or knockoffs are based on a weldcraft torch. The above link will give you a good starting point to find the weldcraft number and allow you to search for your parts. If none of the consumables look close post them and I will take a look. Good luck. As for the linked welder all of those Chinese knockoff inverter welders come from one of two plants. The quality is hit or miss. It will either work fine for a few years or have a very erratic unstable arc with terrible current control right out of the box. Should be fine for what you are doing but I wouldn't make a living off of it.

I found the supplier and part list for the torch. They will get me these in few days
Thanks for your effort!
Btw: What do you think about Miller Dynasty 200 DX machines? I really like these and will probably wait for a good price on used one. Do you know any sources other than ebay to get used one in the 'up to $2k' range?
Thanks for your effort!

Miller is not big here so I'd have to buy overseas. On the other hand there are a lot of lincolns and Lincoln dealership in walking distance from where I work. Invertec v205t Looks good.
