What Tires to use
Hey guys I'm putting a set of turbo phone dials (16x7, 16x8) on my 87 S. What type of tires do you Turbo guys like? And in what sizes? Car is not stock, koni front suspension, bilsten rear shocks, 18mm rear sway bar, typical performance upgrades and 951 transmission. I'm looking for a good high performance summer tire. Let me know what you guys think

What's your budget? If you want to keep it under $100 per tire, you should consider Falken Azenis, Fuzion ZRi and Yokohama ES100. They all have proponents and opponents, but most people have only good things to say about the Fuzions.

Falken Ziex 512 is a great tire for the money, Hankook Ventus RS2 Z212 is also a great tire, more performance than the Falken. Discount tire has the best price for the hankook

I have really liked the yokos, especially for the money they are a great tire, wet and dry.
If you aren't going to drive it in the rain or run over anything in the road, and you don't mind the tires lasting for only a few weeks, go ahead and get some bfgoodrich gforce R1s. Promise they'll be stickier than any of the other suggested tires!
Treadwear 40 aside, they're DOT legal!
But in all seriousness, g-force sports are good, yokos are good, and you get what you pay for.

I currently have 205 front 225 back, but i would get 225 front and 245 rear. oh yea get goodyear eagle gs-d3's. They are spectacular in the dry and even better in the rain.

I run Yoke avs100's. 225/50/16 front and 245/45/16 rear. They're fine wet and really good dry. I like the looks of that size tire on the car. There aren't many manufactures that make the same series tire in both those sizes so your options are limited.

Michelin makes some nice tires but I cant bring myself to spend $200 each when therea re better tires for half the price. The T1S has been replaced with the T1R which seems to be a better version. I really like toyo tires. The proxes 4 is the best all season performance tire Ive driven (although if you get snow I dont know that Id try it on a RWD car), and the RA1 is a great track tire.

yeah the T1R- couldnt remember the designation- is awsome. We have cups on the MB and they are great- had them on the 951 but sold the wheels. I have a set of RA1's on my track wheels currently and they are pretty darn good as well.

I just bought some Cup wheels with T1S's in the front and T1R's in the rear... same tread, same ratings. Used them on track this weekend and was very impressed. My pal in an R32 has T1S's down to the wear bars and was impressed as well- and he was coming off R compounds.

I purchased a set of Falken Ziex ZE-512 tires to replace the worn out Goodyears last winter and now after 40,000 miles they are still good. They have excellent traction in dry/wet conditions, above average in snow conditions. I notice that there are many Performance reviews, you can have a look:
