radiator fans always on
86' 944 - Radiator fans on continually when ignition is on. Relay or thermostat? Does anyone know how to check or have had to deal with this problem? Coolant temp and gage reading are working normally and in the 1/4 to 1/2 range.

Yep. Agreed.
Switch is located on the back of the radiator on the drivers side. For now you can pull the relay when you park the car and it should keep your battery from draining until you replace the switch.

Welcome aboard Mark!
The speed of the responses tell you this is a common problem, a "search" will tell you how simple the fix is.

I have run the wires from the two fans and they go directly to the fuse/relay box. No switch on back of radiator. Could I be missing something?

There are wires that also go from the relay to the thermo switch on the radiator. The thermo switch tells the relay when to turn the fans on.

If I interpret what he is saying correctly, he didn't mess with the wiring, he's tracing the wiring trying to understand what could be wrong.
(of course I could be wrong, I have been once in the past, and it wasn't a good feeling)

Okay, thanks I found it. Do you know what temperature range should the new switch be in?

What did "search" say?
I'm done here.
