So a couple days ago i was driving out in Cherry Glen rd, it was pitch black even with the high beams and fog lights on i could barely see. I drive this road alot so im comfortable with it, but at night its a whole different story. There was no reflectors or signs of the turn, it was just there. The turn took me by surprize and i couldnt slow the car down enough in time to turn, the back tires lost traction but the car didnt spin out, it did slid sideways for a good 50 ft before it really broke loose and then into the ditch i went. I tried my hardest to save it but I couldnt get it straight again. After i got the car out of the ditch I opened the hood to check for any thing that might of broke but the car seemed fine, the tire did pop tho. When i walked back to see why the tires didnt grip i noticed no skid marks, there was sand all over the road. Just my luck. So I walkd back to the car and put the spare on and drove home but it was still pulling to the right. Today (2 days later) when i finally had the time to lift the car up i notice i bent the hell out of my suspension clip and scuffed my sway bar. O and i smash my rear quarter panel, ouch. But i did make it home with no tow truck needed, so it wasnt that bad of a night

o. by any chance does any one have a set of suspension clips for sale.? 944online takes a week to ship, i cant wait that long.

You can fix that sway bar bracket. Remove it from the car, heat it, and just bend it back straight.

Sorry about the crash! I once crashed the same way you described, same exact situation. Dark, the turn came out of nowhere, and there was sand on the road. Except, I wasn't driving a 944 I was driving my friend's rx-7. Also, I didn't get away with a little crumpled panel. The car went into a damn tree and that was the end of that. I was bruised quite badly, and my friend wasn't happy. So thank God you made it out with hardly any damage to you or the car.

DONT HEAT IT_ heat will make it brittle and it'll break! Just bend it back.

Actually, heat will NOT make it brittle -- a fast quench, like heating it up red hot then plunging it into a bucket of cold water -- will make it brittle. Heating it up and letting it cool naturally is called "anealing" and it is a method of making a brittle steel (like spring steel) non brittle, but at the expense of springyness.

Blacksmiths continually heat the steel they are forging -- it is the prefered method for changing the steel's shape (other than machining).

Happened to me on the Olympic Peninsula not long ago, only with a wet road, sudden turn, major hydroplaning and me driving too fast. Luckily, though I swerved like mad, I kept it together. Good thing, too, as beyond the curve was a major bog ... no doubt the car (with me in it) would've sunk out of sight, awaiting discovery by future archeologists.

thanks for all your input guys, so far it looks like its all minor once i get the sway bar and and the sway bar brackets on it, it'll be driveable. Kinda ugly but still drivealbe, I sent a pm to Scootin159 and to you Rock. I'll let you guys know when it up and running again. Any ideas on how to get that dent out.? The body shops around here, (94585 area) want to charge me +/-1500 thats more then i paid for the car. If you know any body shops or any one thats does body work please send them my way.

regardless of whether you heat it or not the metal will not be exactly the same as it was, when it bends it is stretched and cannot return to its previous shape. Now you may not be able to notice this when you bend it back, but I cant stand small things like that. I personally would get a new sway bar, but that is up to you.
