Default Mintex or metal master pads?

I'm ordering some parts from Zims and I already know I need front rotors so I though I might as well change the pads too.

I want to replace the front pads and rotors and the rear pads, I haven't measured the rear rotor but I want to leave them for now.

now I'm not sure if I should get the mintex, metal masters or oem pads from zims. I don't mind paying a little more if the metal masters or oems are better brakes than the mintex but I also don't want to waste my money..

also I'm going in for smog testing soon so I"m getting a new cap and rotor but not sure if I should get wires, they're kind of expensive and mine look fine.

I removed Mintex pads from my car, the PO had installed them. They were starting to go at 50,000 miles. They were pretty good pads, but extremely dusty. I installed Metal Masters and they are a lot less dusty.

I have similar wheels to the car in your picture, and I'd go with MMs if your wheel lips are bare aluminum like mine. The Mintex pads turned them black too quickly.

ok cool, the mintex bads say vitually dust free.

also any point to changing the rear pads if I'm not changing the rear rotors? I don't have money for rear rotors right so I'm going to only do the fronts as I already know the fronts are worn down badly.

I've got metal masters, they're certainly not dust free... I say they keep the wheels silver about 3 days longer than if I were to use my track pads on the street... That, and if you're like me, and enjoy a random cruise up your local canyon on any given day, they do fade... rather quickly. they squeal when hot too. I'm not a fan of the metal masters...

lol okay , then what should i get? I want to order them today.

zims has better prices than paragon / pelican (slightly)

zims only has metal masters and mintex and oem

oem they don't give you a choice it's going to be one of the 4 oem suppliers.

so should i pay so much more and go oem?

getting both front and rear mintex pads is cheaper than one set of the oems are they that much better?

I'm not going to be racing the car or anything but I want pretty good pads.

My metal masters have been good for me. Just make sure you do front and rear.

Little squeak now and then, but nothing terrible. Wheels visibly need cleaning after a few days of use. But not nearly as bad as the Brembo's with brembo pads I have on the mustang. eeek, they make some serious dust.

so do you have to replace front and back pads at the same time?

I'm not doing the rear rotors right now so I'm wondering if I should just do front pads and rotors and leave the rear?

no you don't have to replace the rear rotors when you do pads...just take 80 grit sand paper to the rotor

ok think if my front rotors are worn down most likely the rears need replacing too.

so I'm now thinking of going with the cheap mintex pads so I can afford to replace both front and rear rotors pads.

I would think the mintex pads must be decent.

the rears aren't used as much, so you don't necessarily have to replace them if you have to replace the fronts
