What are my 944s worth? I'm baffled!
I posted the two porsches on craigslist and got a bunch of kids. One had the ***** to compare my 69k car to a car on craigslist with 110k MORE miles!! and say my price was too high because he could get that one for 4k less. 4k for 110k? Whatever.
Another is very interested in my turbo with all the extras ($$$ extras), but wants to pay closer to the 7k KBB value of a stock car.
cars.com has the Turbo. I got a few hits, but... The Turbo is also on eBay. Tweny people watching it, over 500 hits, and not one question. With two days left I know it wont sell to a real buyer. Unless my description is just sooo damn good there is nothing else to ask about.
Everybody studies pictures, nobody has looked at either car.
Here are the posts. What are they worth, and why do you think that is the value.
Info on the Turbo 12.9K with the seats and roll bar, 11.5k without. Look at all the work done to it
Information on the S2 $10K, 69k miles
I need to move one, she who must be obeyed is getting ticked now that the warmer weather is here and people are coming over to go to the beach.
Fortunately I am not here next week. I will be in training in Houston.

There are currently over 40 Turbo 944 on Ebay, usually there are under 20. Times are getting harder in this Country and folks are letting thier toys go, that Supply and Demand. Dont waste your time with Autotrader that gets no response.

Honestly, I think your asking prices are too high. The market is not as good as EXCELLENCE claimed. It seems everyone and their mother is selling a 944 in some shape or form.
This is from a year ago....

nickg couldn't sell his 944 S2 cabs (3 of them, i think)...... he ended up taking ridiculously low money for gorgeous cars. The thread I posted showed he got down to asking $6750....who knows if he even got that much. I am pretty sure one sold for $4500.
I sold my 944S on ebay, recently. The only reason it did sell is because I had a grocery list of mods. No other reason. People could care less about the money spent on preventive maintenance, because that's the cost of owning the car. That's why no one buys the cars that say "thousands spent on car." The owner has just had it for so long, that they paid for lost of preventive maintenance, but no upgrades. To tell you the truth, if I see an ad that stresses all the money spent on preventive maintenance, I immediately go somewhere else. It doesn't impress me, because like I said, that's the cost of owning the car. You're supposed to do that stuff. If you don't, the car will NOT operate correctly.
You seem to be making a big deal about the seats and rollbar. I spent over $10K in UPGRADES (NOT including PMCS), from suspension, to engine, to race seats and rollbar. I ended up selling my 944S for $6100. I bought the car for $6000 2 years ago.

Not sure if it matters for this thread, but my car was just totalled by a "large" insurance company. They paid me $10,650. I bought it back for about 20% of that.

Nickg's cars were a bit rough around the edges, and as someone who has sold an S2 and a turbo that were a little rough around the edges I can say that it really affects the price.
Selling $10K used cars as a private owner is not easy. Not many people can pull that much out of a savings account. New cars are very easy to get into nowadays with the financing (ripoff) deals.
A used car like these has to be a good enough deal for most buyers to get a credit card advance to buy.
If the cars are really, really nice I'd suggest Panorama classifieds and patience. If they have a few issues, a few stories, mods, probably the price is too high. I generally consider modded cars to be worth less than stockers. Not only do mods = hard driving but the modding process is a personal one and a hobby to most. Also most buyers cannot afford the price of the car and the price of the mods at the same time.
Oh, when I sell cars on CL I usually say that lowballers and scammers will be ignored. I do not waste time talking to (or about) all the people saying all they have is $1200 or the car is only worth $2500.
Good luck,
-Joel.

OK, lets see some serious offers. I may just sell the Corolla and keep both.
fast924S, give me some basis for your numbers. A S2 with 2 1/2 times the mileage went for what you are saying i sell mine for. is there any value to not having an additional 100k miles on a car?
If someone wants a stock 951 airbox for $20 plus shipping PM me. Remember I am out of town next week.

Honestly, if I had $8.5K, I would offer it for that turbo.

jg i may just do something like that with the turbo sans seats or roll bar in three weeks and keep the S2. I have a new clutch master cylinder and slave that goes in in two weeks.
I dont think anyone can find a accident free S2 like mine for less than 9k.

I would agree with Jgporsche's estimate of ~8k for the S2.. maybe 9k if you find the right buyer. Also, as was mentioned, now is not the best time to be trying to sell a 944, considering how many there are on the market currently. You might have better luck getting a reasonable price for the S2 since its more rare than the 951. Josh B just sold his S2 for $6650.. it had ~175k miles on it, but it was in pretty nice condition (paint was nice, interior was nice, mechanical stuff sorted through). I would expect that with 110k miles less you could get almost 2k more.

I'd be a bit nicer then Jesse and say, 8k on the S2, but maybe 9-10k on the Turbo.
They are both really nice cars, but mods don't really do much for these vehicles. I would imagine the roll cage in the turbo is what attracts the younger ones, who don't know the true value, and think they can get it for 4k. Personally, I really like your turbo, but I do not like a Roll-Cage and Harness for a road vehicle, so to me, I'd pass.
Might also try and source some basic monochrome center caps to finish off the look of the car.
I have seen since summer started a normal raise for prices from 8-9k to 12-13k. I have no idea if any sell for that, or what they have gone for.
Lower mileage, with clutch change done is a nice addition, though when I was looking for my car, maintenaince records were my priority, 55k or 155k didn't matter much to me.
Just some random insight...

Post only 1 or 2 pics, and leave the description a bit broad. Then they'll have to just come see the car in person, which is a good thing. In the end it may waste more of your time, but it's a lot easier to sell a car to someone when you're both there next to it.
