Got attacked by the Taco Bell chihuahua
Went to the Taco Bell drive through today. Order my food and my 5 year old daughter in the rear seat was impatient and kept distracting me. Order my food and then moved forward to the pay window and "crunch"...
Massive curb rash on my mint condition drivers rear cup 1's. These wheels were like brand new.... What to do?
Anyone have a procedure on how do good repair on these. It looks like the lip is painted. So, I need to find out where I can get the exact paint match and what type of compound to use as a repair to the aluminum.
thanks.

Ouch! There are a few little writeups I have seen on the web for small curb repairs like this I will have to see if I can find one for you. There is a brand of wheel paint that I believe Pelican and a few other places sells called Wurth that seems to be the closest to matching. Last I heard though the paint was all on recall because a lot of them weren't spraying properly. If you wanted a professional to do it, there are a number of places that advertise in the back of Road & Track and other car magazines.

Look up the "Alloy Wheel Repair" guys in your area. I work at a dealership and have a good local contact that has fixed 3 sets of curb rash and 1 big bend in the wheels under my personal care...
They usually have a small trailer they tow from place to place, you catch them on their cell phone and meet them when they make their dealer rounds if you go direct. Otherwise, call your local import (VW?) or your personal car dealer and set something up.
You should have some perfect results for $50-$75 based on what I see.

Dudley,
Come out to my office...I can show you how to do this. The Wurth silver paint is the original paint used on these wheels from the factory, but I'm not sure if the recall has been lifter or not. Give me a call or send me an e-mail.

I did a DIY on how to fix wheels. It applies to all wheels. Let me link you to it....
