One of the 928 guys found some very similar fabric from a company in England -- I'm sure you could ask around there for the velour and you'd get a lead.

Thanks, I will check into it. I e-mailed one place in England, but no response. Any idea if it was produced in more than one color? There was a set of tan vinyl seats on ebay with the same pattern fabric inserts, but they looked reddish where mine seem darker. I've only looked quickly as I am working on the other more pressing aspects, body/paint, etc.

Did you take it all the way down to bare metal? I'd be careful not to remove the galvanization from the factory. Car looks awesome tho. Is it a true Euro? If so I'm jealous! I'm trying to get the factory euro front fenders. I already have the bumper!

I took it to bare metal with some hesitation: #1, I'm not actually doing it and I wasn't sure how to convey what to look for, etc re the galvanizing. #2, it had plenty of bondo and three paint jobs already, so I'm not sure how much was preserved by previous efforts. We will use good stuff and hope for the best.

It is a true euro, from Austria. Funny thing about the front fenders, the left had been replaced and the little marker light was grafted in to a US fender! The right had been bashed a bit, but is original. I like the cool look of it without the fogs under the bumper, no parking lights except the little ones in the fenders, glass small bumpers.

I'm still looking for black pinstripe seats, front and rear if anyone has them.

Looks like it will need a headgasket also.

That velour looks just like the velour on my tan interior '81 931 - and mine's thoroughly trashed too, sadly. Would like to get it repaired, will probably end up just throwing covers on, at least for now...

I believe the soda blasting will leave the zinc on... Good method.

A few pics of front body work. Front fenders were a challenge, good old hidden crash damage. The red color is tinted primer, not finish color.

I guess I skipped over the rear bodywork a bit. We decided to take the rubber strip off the rear bumper since it was not in good shape. If I can get anotter, it's easy enough to put back on. I also don't have the proper surrounds for the fogs in the bumper.

How long was the car sitting in bare metal for before there was any primer on it?

isnt it kinda tricky painting a red car over red primer? be nice for scratches later on though

someone in the PCA near me had a 911 w/ that material and they had some extra. They were offering it to another PCA'er but im not sure who has it now. I may be able to score it though not sure.

i have the same cloth in my 924, i found a supplier for it a while ago, i think they are in new zealand, but its expensive stuff, so i chose not to buy it, i think 125 per square meter is what they quoted me

Thanks for the leads on the seat material. I also found a 924 for sale locally that had some nice plaid seats that might work. Also has a bunch of the other liitle bits that I need.

The body was only bare steel for a week or so, but he was sanding and doing body work before any primer anyway.
