Default Rear defrost broke - slowly going nuts

Hey folks, my 87 944's rear defrost isn't working. I have searched on this topic, but no one's scenarios match mine. Here's the setup:

1. Light on switch comes on.

2. There were numerous breaks in the grid, which I fixed according to the instructions. Voltage tests the same to the left, in the middle and to the right on all repairs.

3. When the system is on, the grid shows 12v all the way across. I know this is a sign of a bad ground on the right side, but...

4. No ground tabs are broken on the right side. New correct struts on both sides with all connections made.

5. I pulled of the right speaker panel and examined the wire that runs from the strut to the interior. It looked fine until it disappeared under the rear seat, where it was jacketed and unlikely to be damaged. I gave it a tug to make sure it wasn't broken underneath.

6. Some say that the wire coming from the right strut grounds the cargo light, but when I unhook the wires from the right strut the cargo light stays on.

7. There is ONE break left in the grid on the bottom line. It is covered by the rear wiper assembly, which I didn't want to remove. That should only affect that particular line, not the whole grid correct?

Any suggestions? Slowly going nuts!

Maybe the actual wires across the window are worn out?

It is definitley a ground problem. Use a test light or voltmeter to follow the +12v until you find
the open wire. Is the +12v found at the strut connection? Keep checking, you will find it.

Could the ground be behind the dash? Or somewhere between switch and hatch?
