yikes... okay well maybe we both have some kinda issue going on. What oil do you use? How long did you last change oil? I was using Syntec 5-50... this last oil change was during a few months of cold weather, and more than average highway driving for me. She's at 225Kkm.

I had a shop do my last oil change, so I don't know what brand, but I know it is not synthetic. Its probably 20-50. Did right around 3k mi and 3months on that oil. Car only has 85k mi, but had a going headgasket at the time of that oil.

relax guys its not that big of a deal. If shavings were not supposed to accumulate within the engine, Porsche would not have wasted their money on magnets... If the motors were junk by the time fine particles accumulated, there would be no point in taking it out with a magnet, you could scoop it out when you threw the rest of the motor away. Now that being said, you should not see big chuncks of metal. Usually if I see anything on the drain plugs in my P-cars (which I usually do), it is a grey paste, that doesn't really look very metallic until you move it around between your fingers. Big chunks can mean problems, a friend of mine started seeing parts of his chiain ramps on his sump plug in his 911... that was a little scary.

You should get your oil analyzed. They'll report back with what types of metal are present in your oil and at what levels. That'll help you diagnose what is actually there and what you might need to fix.
