Default New Interior

Hi,

I hope everyone's year is going well!

Last weekend, I got to install my recovered seats... Wow, what a world of difference compared to the shredded vinyl seat covers the PO had installed.

My mother had found a large section of leather she was going to use at her home - decided it was not right for her and gave to me thinking about the poor shape of my Porsche interior. Found a local auto upholstery guy and dropped off the seats for a few weeks.

Check out the results, it totally freshens the car, but still has a period correct vibe for the early style interior.

For the many years I've owned the car, I don't have any before shots of the old tattered seats! LOL

Thanks,

-M

That looks great. Your shop did a fine job on the stitching. That almost looks like a custom tanned leather, I really like the grain pattern and color.

Looks good! Only thing I'd consider changing was the color of the shiftboot, maybe to the original brown leather or something.

Thanks for all the kind words.

Per the shop - Yes he did an amazing job and mirrored all the factory Recaro stitching. I honestly was not expecting them to look this good and was totally floored when I saw them finished. Job was <$500, but I supplied the leather. Shop is a little "hole in the wall" off of Buford Hwy (If you know Atlanta, you understand...)

And for the shift boot - Yup would love to get a nice kick azz shift **** and boot. A wheel would be nice, too. For some reason the PO ripped all the leather covering off the wheel???? What is the matter with PO'S?

Here's my doing the shifter area:

The storage console top was a bit cracked, too - tried my best to repair when I did the center section myself in my garage.

Very nice 944! I love the origional cars, especially the red ones! Your car reminds me of those "Baseball" leather interiors on the Audi TTs. Looks sharp! And I agree with you on what the POs were thinkin'...I have no clue! Haha.

Did the shop replace any of the cushion material?

Sometimes I think that the reason the seats rip is because the cushion materials are no longer held together at the seam between the side pieces and the center sections.

It would look really trick if you could get the door panels and light carpet pieces to match your darker carpet on the floor.

I agree. Maybe find some more vinyl...or get some dye or something and match them up.

EDIT

I actually like the 2-color scheme the seats have going. Maybe if you could lighten the regular carpet up to match the seats and the carpet trim areas, it would look cooler.

Thanks again.

The seats also remind me a bit of the Audi TT seats - or even a basketball!

Some of the foam was indeed replaced. The driver's seat was pretty tattered and the side bolster was virtually worn through.

Much more comfortable, now.

Dr. P - Thanks.

And per the two-tone schemes - There are lots of options, but the car really looks HOTT in person. If look closely at the first pic I posted you can catch a glimpse of the original cloth on the folded rear seat. LOL- It's definitely come a long way.
