+1

At the last volvo club day there was about 2.5+ hrs of track time with a 40 min. free for all session to end the day. At NASA, you get max 1.3 hrs per day.

There are always other groups running Thunderhill, but Sears is more difficult to get and NASA always has a couple weekends per year there.

Hmm, I wasn't aware of this. Maybe I'll shoot for the Lotus Club DE on march 27th instead.

I've never run with lotus club, but I've heard they run a good event.

Lotus is great if you're in an advanced group. Huge track time w/ only two run groups and super-cheap. On the minus side, if you're a beginner, instruction is meager to non-existent.

Lotus used to be better because half the cars would break by lunch and you'd have open track if the afternoon. Those pesky Elises are much more reliable these days, so traffic is a little thicker.

Does anyone know if they're going to run a cone chicane into Turn 1 or Turn 8 with either Got Guts or Volvo?

Cool. Cones belong only at autocrosses.

I have another 928 friend who may be interested in running a day at T-hill. It'd be fun to run w/ some other front-engined guys.

How do you mount the seats to the floor? Unless I'm thinking of this incorrectly... you aren't using brackets?

Default Got Guts At Thunderhill

Hey guys, let me clear things up a little for you about our trackday on April 23rd... windows ALWAYS down and sunroof open. Glass is not your friend when it comes in small pieces .

At Got Guts we have just 3 run groups, so each driver will get at least 6 20-minute sessions plus an open session at day's end. That is potentially 2 1/2 hours of track time. Lunch and refreshments are also included in the $225 driver fee. And contrary to popular belief, although the day is sponsored by SAMOA only 28 of 77 cars last year were Miatas. We love all cars. NASA has 4 run groups at their HPDEs, so you will probably be restricted to just 4 sessions each. Last year we provided instruction and had a novice group, in April we'll have an advanced group and 2 equal intermediate groups, no novice group and no instructors. We require a minimum of 2 prior track days.

We are also holding a benefit raffle at lunch with tons of cool prizes. Check out the prize list to see what we've collected so far... and a lot more is on the way.

If you are on the fence I hope this clarifies things for you. Hope to see you in April.

Ron

NASA has us racing both days. Normally 3 sessions per day, Practice, Qualifying, and Race

We've run with the Lotus guys a couple of times. Agree with what was said above. 2 Rungroups and more tracktime then you can use. Not great for beginners but manageable with some help from others.

You'd think he would have used his mexican hookups to get some better struts somehow.

Looks like I'm in for the GotGuts track day, with Dennis and Brian from the 928 forum also planning to attend. Hope to meet some fellow Rennlisters and put faces to names! Brian and I will probably meet in Elk Grove early morning on the 23rd and drive up together. If anyone else from Stockton/Sacramento area want to caravan up let me know. See you there.

Just about 2 months out and registrations are starting to come in daily. Don't miss out on a spot in your favorite run group. Send me an email if you plan to attend, and if things are getting tight and I haven't heard back from you, I'll drop you a line so you won't miss out. Oh, and check out the love in the April 2007 GRM (page 16). Thanks.

Ron
