Had no idea where that was so I had to map it....looks like it's close to the poconos but appears to kinda be a one-horse town from the map....like 1.5 miles square and surrounded by woods.

It's in northern PA. about 10 miles from Wilkes Barre. Did a google search on it but can only find so much information. Was kinda hoping that someone might live near there and know a little more about the area.

My in-laws live there. Quiet place with not a whole lot to do. Big divide between the locals and the new people with money and their 5000+ sqft houses. Not a whole lot to do there. Wilkes Barre offer a little more, but not much... You'll have lots of time to work on your car!
Got me curious, what's the job/industry there?

We have a couple of homes in Mount Pocono which is not too far from there. At least in the Pocono region there is a lot of new money coming in from people who have been running from the high cost of living within NY/NJ.
It's pretty but aside from outdoor activities, not a whole lot to do!

The Wilkes-Barre, Scranton area has been described as the most depressing cities they have ever visited. They were old coal mining towns.
The bright side is that you're not far from Hershey for the annual swap meet!

Just what I wanted to hear. From what I can find on Google there is not much around. I was hoping to find out what the cost of living was like so I can figure out if they are offering a fair salary for the area. That and my Wife and daughter really don't want to move so it looks like I would be getting an apartment down there and coming home on the weekends. Need to figure out if I can afford rent plus a mortage.

My aunt and uncle live near there, Bear Creek. I don't think home prices are bad, try www.zillow.com for prices, or realtor.com. Roads tend to be bad in winter, not much to do unless you like to hunt. Montage ski resort is near, Pocono Racetrack is near.

Lived in Mountain Top PA for about 7 years as a teenager and hated every last second of it. The 'locals' are mostly intolerant rednecks, there is nothing to do but drink (when in Rome...), shop at the Kmart at the bottom of the mountain or hunt. If you plan to raise a family there, don't - the school system is terrible.
On the other hand, the scenery is nice and the fall foliage run up the mountain is a good time.
