1986 944 with NACA duct in hood
Hi
My 86 has a factory NACA duct in the hood similar to the early 924 turbo hoods. Are the hoods swappable on these 2 models or did it come from the factory this way? The car has original paint dark graphite. The previous owner (number 2) said it was ordered this way from the dealership when he bought it from the original owner. Ive never seen another like this but Ive seen aftermarket kits/hoods and this aint either. Just thought someone could maybe give me some insight. Thanks.

I'm interested to see pics. My guess is that it's a 931 (924 Turbo) hood that was either order specially to order (Porsche has a delightful history of putting whatever the customer wants on his car.... for a price), or that the 1st owner went to the aprts department and ordered a 931 hood, and put it on his new 944.

I have no clue whether or not they could have been ordered like that, but a local Rennlister has (had?) a 931 hood on his '87 (I think) 944. I believe it's an almost-direct swap. The only difference is that the 931 hood didn't have any provisions for the hood struts and thus, the 944 required a hood prop rod to keep it open.
That's all I can offer here...
