Default Price check, aisle 3...

So I'm looking at getting another 951 to use as a track car. My mechanic took one in on trade and is offering it to me.

'86 White with leather interior, 66k miles. Records back till '92 or so. Has a hole in the header. Everything else seems to be pretty good, exterior around an 8-8.5, interior a 9.

How much do you think this car is worth? I drove it today, good power, shifts well, nice brakes, no real warts.

Also, the car has a rear diff cooler, but doesn't have the lsd option code. If it has the cooler, it has a lsd, right?

my car has a cooler and no lsd- not all lsd cars had a cooler either. I paid 5500 for my car w/ 50k on it, but few records and a few problems known to exhist. I would say if its a nice enough car anywhere from 6k-7500- being an 86 it would prob need to have the updated header/xover installed and depends on if the clutch is new. Is a lighter car though, which is why i picked mine.

Ah, forgot about the one peice crossover pipe! If the header has a hole I guess this would be a good excuse to get the updated parts.

I would've never expected a rear diff cooler if the car didn't have an lsd.

Not sure where my mechanic is going to price it, I was figuring it was worth somewhere between $6-7k. I bet he's going to want $8k+ for it tho.

My car have the cooler (IIRC all 86's had the cooler) but no LSD option code. I pulled it to put in a rebuilt LSD and lo and behold it was a LSD tranny. Go figure.

Hmm, guess I'll have to put it in the air and spin a rear wheel and see what the opposite side does...

Or better yet, just go drop the clutch from ~4k rpm and see if you get one stripe or two. LOL

Seriously, sounds like a good find, hopefully it does have the LSD and Steven will price it right for you!

I did that, and got no stripes... but I did get a freaky smell and some smoke coming from the bell housing...
