Default Anyone running run-flat tires on their 944?

After reading this article on run-flat tires, I was just curious if anyone has run on these -particularly on a 944 - and what their opinion was? I remember some people saying they run without the space-saver spare, either because they don't have one or just don't want the weight.

Just wondering how they were so far as traction, wear, etc. I haven't even checked yet to see if they were even available in usable sizes...

RFT are heavy and will add more [unsprung] weight than you save with deleting the spare.

Serge, that's a good point that I hadn't thought of. Didn't realize rfts were that much heavier.

I think I've had a total of 5 flat tires in almost 30 years of driving... always from a screw or nail that was on the road.

Come to think of it, they've all been in the summer/spring/fall, too... never had to change a flat in the snow or less than 60 degree weather

I had RF's on the Mini. The sidewalls are stiff (duh) and the tire is extremely heavy. I bought non RF's for the replacements, a lot of folks are going that route. Nearly half the price, lighter, softer. Now I'm playing "blowout roulette".

I'm not sure if it matters to you, but every car I've been in with run flats has had TONS of road noise. They're pretty loud as well as heavy.

Not many run flats available in sizes smaller than a 17" wheel, kinda leaves most of us 944 folks out of the loop for run flats. FWIW
