ok this may seem a litle off topic, but its in concern for my S. I dont want to bring it to my college parking lot, theres lots of crazy teenage drivers and during the winter people get hit alot. I have around a 5000 dollar budget and I wanted to get either a awd car or a small truck, I was thinking an Audi A4 or maybe a subaru. any helpful ideas out there.

Subaru all the way. I bought my 1990 legacy wagon for $800 bucks and have made 25 ski trips in it last season. My moms been using it for the past half year too. All it ever needed was oil changes and it's been as reliable as can be. For 5k, you can get a very nice newer subaru, which will be easier on your wallet in the long run than any audi.

Look for an old E-30 Bimmer 318 (pre '91; like in Serge's sig pic) and put a set of Blizzaks on it. You should be able to find one for under $2k, tires for another $500, you'll still have cash left over to incidentals like brakes or a new battery.

Subaru all the way. You *might* be able to find a 2.5rs for that much.

On the other hand, can you resist 2.2 liters of turbocharged goodness?

If you can find an old 200 turbo wagon, go for it... I agree the i5 turbo is bad ***... but again it comes with the increased maintenance. The subie will def overall be cheaper and less hassle.

This comes from an Audi owner who loves his A6 Avant...
