Default What Seats do you use - Track/Headroom

I'm working on the S2 project car and I need some seat suggestions. I need a pair of seats that will take 5-6 point harnesses and fit a guy 6'2" 250lbs. ( not me). I would prefer something that reclines so theres access to the rear seats like the SRDs, but with the very limited headroom I'm interrested in what you guys have found that works. Budget $1200

Thanks

Jeff

Corbeau makes a TRS seat that would fit your description. It is a comfortable seat and can come in a larger (width) size, though I do not know if that one will fit in a 944. A couple of posters here have the TRS in their cars and can comment on headroom. I will get a set for my own S2 someday.

I have the Sparco Evo L seats with the side brackets and fit fine (5-10) as long as the seat is kept back a little which shouldn't be a problem if you friend is taller.

On a side note for track or racing purposes you should not get a reclining seat. It needs to be a single piece. In fact it is not allowed in many racing regulations.

I use those same evos in my 911. I was hoping to find a good nn-fixed back seat for the S2 since it's not a track dedicated car. We'd have to pull the seats after each event for street driving. Most of the fixed back seats make getting in and out an issue.

Eddie - Thanks for the input on my suspension thread. I'm trying to weigh the down side of converting my struts to coilovers with the paragon parts - gotta save some coin somewhere.

I have the same (headroom) problem in my '84 with sport seats - especially with the sunroof closed. Even one more inch of headroom would help alot. Anybody tried removing some of the padding from the seat bottom? On a related note, Momo has introduced a new steering wheel that looks like a Prototipo, but with a deep dish center to move the rim closer to the driver. That would allow you to recline (to get your head off the roof) and still comfortably reach the wheel. I have a Prototipo with a Smart Racing spacer, but it's still a bit of a reach.

You might consider removing the inner trim panel from the underside of the sunroof. That gives you an extra 1/2 to 3/4" of room. I am 6'1" and I use Corbeau fixed back seats. On days when a helmet is required, I run with my spare gutted sunroof panel and remove the lower seat cushion from the drivers seat.

Thanks Guys I'll give these a look.

J. Berk - My seats are black in pristine condition, but I really need to holod on to them. If funds get super tight, I'll give you a holler.

If you change your mind I'd like first dibs! I'd even include my current black leather seats in case you chose to put orig. seats back....mine are not in bad shape...just starting to let go in the seams in a few places.

best

Joe
