Or an even easier way would be to get a Lindsey Racing ST1 951 MAF ($309) and get a piggyback or you can go the same route I am going and get Russell (rberry951) to create you a 951 or 944 MAF chip. Which would actually be cheaper than a piggyback.

Hmmm. I think I like d_roedel's idea. Saw one of those MAFs for like 20 bucks. A roadtrip and a case of beer plus. Maybe JG can powedercoat the Contour MAF ;-). Sweeeeet.

I received the first piece of the puzzle today......
LR ST1 MAF
I'm still waiting for the other 2 pieces (SFR intake piping [should be here any day now] and a datalogging wideband) Russell and I will be working on a plug and play MAF chip for the 944S (he will also be doing MAF chips for the other 944 models)

well, I am glad there are lots interested, and some started on their own MAF projects,
After another day of tuning and screwing around with the computer, best setting is no voltage alteration. so next i just need to make a better bracket (right now its a zip tie!) i have access to cnc plasma cutter, welder ect, maybe i should make 2 or 3? I might also make a fiberglass airbox, becasue now my car is REALLY loud with open filter and exhaust,,
mjaffe - let me know and i would be happy to wire it up for you some day and if doesnt work great like mine, we can attach my split-sec box and try to perfect it.

I just started to watch a 86' DME and 86' AFM on ebay that I can retrofit in my 84' NA so I can chip it later on, and to get the better signal of the later AFM's but reading this I am anxious to see what takes place with these experimental MAF's
Great work guys!!!

What is a split-sec box? Obviously it has something to do with tweaking the output but is it a program for a laptop, a fancy potentiometer....? If this really works with no signal alteration it would be great. MJaffe, you said the J-boot fits with a little stretching. Can you still get the stock clamp on there? I wonder if the stock air box can be modded to mate up....
