Default Turbo S options

I just looked at a 1988 944 Turbo S. The guy had the original window sticker and the car was listed as a 944 Turbo with the S options. The only thing is it didn't mention what these S options were. Can anyone tell me what the S options were?

If anyone is wondering back in 1988 the car was worth 49K and change.

I asked the same question just a few post below. One of the members says to look for 758 option code which should distinguish it as an S, which has the 030 suspension, 220 LSD, etc. even though it might not list all of them on the option sticker.

Jeeze, you come on here and ask these questions saying you went and looked at the car, but you don't post car info or pics? Worthless, absolutely worthless.

Ok - someone will fill in my gaps but off the top of my head:

- bigger turbo
- bigger brake calipers
- Isn't 1st gear harden'd?
- Dbl adjustable Koni's?
- 10 speaker premium audio system
- LSD
- cooler on tranny
- I'm sure I forgot a bunch of stuff...

There is also a chassis stiffener from the strut tower to the frame rail.

The torque tube is stiffened, wheel wells rolled, Design 90 wheels, harder suspension bushings, bigger sway bars, and both first and second gear are strengthened ( I believe) and only ***-kicking, really cool people get to drive them.

Sorry Bill. I must have lost my head. I don't know what I was thinking.

It is a 1988 944 Turbo S in Ocean Blue color with tan interior. Supposedly it is the only Ocean Blue "S" in the United States. It has 147,000 miles on it. It is in beautiful shape. There are some things wrong with it. According to the owner (really nice guy) there is a leak in the downpipe off the wastegate. When I drove it it made a horrible roar when the turbo opened to about 1 bar. There is a small coolant leak from the thermofan switch. Headlight relay is bad. He had the timing belts done 2000 miles ago but hasn't had them retensioned. Finally there aren't any records. He has receipts for the timing belt and front engine seal and new tires but nothing else from him or first owner (he is second owner). According to him EVERYTHING else is original. Original clutch, water pump... He wants $11,500 for the car.

Well now that you all have the info I am definately open for advice/opinions.

Like i said last night, budget atleast $1500-2000 right off the bat to have the clutch done because with that kind of mileage it could last you until 200k or go the next day you buy the car. You may even want to use this as a bargining point.. can maybe knock off $5-1k off the asking price.

The waterpump is kinda iffy. Its possible it was changed the last time the belts were done meaning it will be good for the life of the belts on the car right now. Or its possible the pump already has 60k miles on it and is nearing the end of its service life.

The other stuff wrong seems kinda minor and shouldnt really be a reason to pass on the car.

Any chance the owner now knows who the previous owner was or atleast still has contact info? I would consider trying to contact the guy and asking him about the previous history. That is if you can figure out who it is.

Good points. The thing is I am not sure if I want to get a car that I have to start repairing things that should have been replaced. Don't want to throw money into repairs would rather throw money into mods.

How's the finger?
