Default 2.7l 8 valve head + 3.0l 16 valve head market value

Hi,

I just picked up a 2.7l 8 valve head in good shape for my S2 turbo project. I was wondering what current market value is on these heads. Also how much an S2 16 valve head with repaired tensioner (read cracked off mounting point and was welded back in) with 80k miles would go for. Thanks in advance, I'll let you guys know how much I paid for it after a couple of replies

$600-$800 on the 16V head. Depending on whether it comes with cams, valve cover, etc., etc.

The repaired damage will more than likely bring down the price, even if it was repaired and repaired properly. But at least $700.

Hey Nick, what's that "turbo poject" your doing ???

And thanks again for those spacers, I had promised pictures but you can't really tell they are installed. I can, but on the pictures it doesn't show.

Just curious, why aren't you using the 16 valve head?

Because I don't want to go through with all the custom exhaust manifold, exhaust and other related work. I want a reliable setup...

Cool no problem I hope the car looks better... As for the turbo project. I don't think my S2 will fetch my asking price so I might as well turbo it and keep till it dies. I bought an 8 valve 2.7l 89 head that should bolt onto my block perfect just like the 3.0liter 968 turbo s. I'll use stock turbo plumbing to minimize custom work and do some rebuilding over the winter and hopefully tune it at my buddie's tuning shop for next spring. I'll also be selling my 86 turbo without the lsd which is now in my S2. The turbo will have my S2 tranny. I'm going to be putting it up on lespac this week.

yes, I did not go internal at all, but I'm only running about 5lbs of boost, but I did this on a fairly tight budget while still using good components. If I was running any more boost it'd be intercooled, and any more than 9psi, I'd go with lower compression pistons. But that starts a slippery slope on the way to complete engine rebuild where each step increases reliability and power potential. I'm not going there.

Any more than 15psi, I'd want a built bottom end and O-ringed head.
