Does this look like the correct seal? Good grief...

Something that has me concerned, beyond the liberal use of clear silicone, is that the hatch glass may not be the correct one. Out of curiosity I was going to pull the cargo cover back and the latch points on the hatch weren't even close to the ones on the cover itself... hence, posting to the 'list. Let me know!
Thanks, 75ohm.

The cargo cover won't line up with the 'latches' on the hatch. I know what ones you're talking about, and they're off by quite a bit on my car as well. The cargo cover hooks into the body of the car in the back (i.e. doesn't go up with the hatch).
I wonder if the P.O. used the silicone to try and stop a water leak that never was coming through where he sealed it there. The rear hatches have a strong tendancy to leak between the glass and the frame on the hatch itself.

One sidenote though.... with the hatch closed, you can see an opening in between the seal and the hatch. Is it assumed that if the seal was pushed up further it would seal properly? I don't believe there is that much play left in the seal to push it up further to make contact; however, I am going to check.

The proper attachment points for the cargo cover are on the body of the car, the cover does not go up with the hatch, unless an aftermarket set up was used. Still think it was a bad hatch gasket replacement which was "repaired" with clear silicone.

I'm not 100% sure that the seal is intended for use on this vehicle, quite honestly. It looks half-assed. Will take a pic of the hatch closed and the vantage point -- let you guys determine next step!

I am willing to bet the seal is correct, but that the PO did a lousy install. Out of the package, the seal is significantly longer than it needs to be. It is also tricky to get it in place and tight all the way around. It takes patience, which I bet PO did not have. He installed, cut it, and then had problems (leaks) in that corner. Cheezed out and used silicone.

Holy Moses... that seal is a POS. Improperly installed and dressed with the silicone. There is a gap of at least 1" between the edge of the seal and the frame. Need to replace with an OEM seal as it's obvious the last person who touched it FUBAR'd it... thanks for your time fellas.
