RA1 hot pressure on 944/951
For you 944/951 track guys running RA1s:
What hot pressures do you shoot for to obtain maximum grip. I'm getting a set mounted on Monday, my first set of RA1s after years of using MPSCs.
Is the target hot pressure staggered front to rear, or the same at all four corners? Michelin recently began suggesting using a staggered setup; with a two pound variance front to rear (fronts 2+ higher than rear.) This has actually worked out quite well.
What works best for RA1s?
TIA

I just recently started to do lots of track events. The recommendation I got from a couple of different places is also to shoot for 40# hot. I'm running 225/50/15 RA1 on all four corners.

I run RA1's, 245/46/16 at all 4's. I look for 40psi hot, I usually run with one pound less in the rear, except for last weekend where I was at an unframiliar track and had to make a "adjustment" for understeer. I went 2psi higher in the rear and it helped. Talking to tire guys their advise is 40-43psi on our car(3,000lb) and 25-30 heat cycles for competition, not practice. I have found this to be true, other racers can run forever on a set, but mine seem to loose grip around 30...

39 front all around. I have founf that you if you are off on your cold pressures and you hot makes it over 40 the grip goes away very quickly. I have been to 41-42 and the car is all over the place. Did you get them shaved?

Skip -- I didn't get them shaved, as I needed to get them in quickly and their shaved tires would have taken an additional 5-7 days to deliver. So when you're kicking my a** on Friday at Nelson's, it's because my tires blocks are all squirmy due to the full tread. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
