Default Nice pics of autocrossing Sunday

Third time taking the car out racing. A bit different than my SE-R...

Fun little car. Definately in its element. If you haven't taken your 944 racing, do it.

Oh, and I won my class, good advertisement for the car. Another local 944 autocross car is the reason I bought mine.

Lookin' at that last pic: It's FAT swaybar time!!!

-The pics are great though, and the course looks awesome! -I love courses like that... so much more fun (and better looking!) than parking-lot-with-cone courses...

Thanks! Yup, quite a bit of lean. Also notice that I have positive camber in the front. Haven't gotten it aligned since I bought it. That might help a little.

Nice time autocrossing.

BTW... the term "racing" should only be applied to proper wheel to wheel racing. Due to insurance reasons (both event coverage, and individual car coverage) most organizers of Driver's Ed, open track days, time trials, or autocrosses really frown on the work "racing" being used at or associated any of their events. Seeing they car did not have a roll cage you were certainly not "racing".

This not a personall attack, but an informational thing. Reason is that to get insurance for a DE or autocross is charged at different rate and has different requirement than for a "race event". If folks start saying they went "racing" the organizers can get in major trouble their insurance does not typically allow "racing".

What group was doing the autocross at Waterford Hills? Were you using the entire track? I've only been there for PCA DE's.

The local SCCA chapter does an annual "autox" at WHRRC, to shake things up. I really wanted to go to this one. I would've been the 3rd driver in this bad boy...

...but I was out of town. My buddies reported that there were only 2 braking points for the car, 95% of the course was flat out (car is designed for the typical tight autox, top speed is geared around 60-65mph). Still, would've been fun cornering in that thing at full throttle near top speed! I saw your pics in that gallery when I was clicking through, made me jealous I missed the event.

How'd the Dearborn car end up doing. Your top driver looked pretty close in speed to the Florida car.

He was complaining about topping out in speed way early on the straits. Obviously the car could've turned better times with more appropriate gearing. Top driver's best was a 64.9, compared to the unrestricted Florida car (with enough gears for the course) at 62.0. DAQ would probably show that they cornered near the same speeds.

Are you guys running a CVT? Where was it topping out. From just looking at the course it would probably occur going into Turn 3 and then again before Big Bend.

What do you mean? At that site you're only about 4 miles from Mount Dora.
