Default Nautic Metallic L Y5Z (Nautic blue) How Rare? offer being made tomorrow!

see last post for update!

Well. I looked at another 944 tonite.
Option codes: 944 332
Thats it. Barebones 88 944NA.
Interior 6 - exterior 7/8 137K miles.

NO records. So it'll new a Waterpump, belts, tune up.. etc all asap.
(roughly 600 $ in parts )
Normal wear and tear - some bondo (not a lot) rear qtr above taillight, in front of Drivers side rear wheel. Rocker panel on drivers.
Decent respray Nautic blue.

a touch of rust behind the rear pass wheel. normal sandblasting of paint around wheelwells and front fascia.

PO has buggered up: sunroof- bad manual conversion (sheesh) body panel fit is OK, needs some tweaking. Headlights need aligned.

Clock- toast. Waterpump, leaking out the weep hole.

Overall, I'd give it a 6.
Mechanically, a 7/8. Clutch is nice, power like a normal NA, no smoke. No oil leaks. No PS leak (!!??)

Newer pair of cheap azz tires on front, older cheap azz tires on rear. suspension OK, not soft- normal. Motor mounts OK, a little greas present on the CV's, new exhaust (not oem)

The good: ODO works.

The question: What would you give for it?

my name was not meant to be what it became with this level of fame..

Bad body, good mechanicals, needs maintenance...

2750? Only since its an 88 with the higher compression engine....

if it werent an 88 I would say 2500 or 2k

I have a Nautic Blue Metallic '87 and I haven't seen very many others. I think they only used that color in '87 and '88.

Anyways, it sounds a little beat up -- no more than $3k. But '88 is a plus for the high compression engine AND the short 5th gear.

It'll be a double duty vehicle - second daily while 924S can get some overdue rehabbing, and some goodies; part time auto-x and track use.

Thanks Joe- It's the first Nautic I'd ever seen. Tan interior.

I have '87 S and it's Nautic Blue Metallic. I haven't seen this colour much either but I know there are at least 3 S-models with this colour here in Finland. I have also seen some in Germany. So I guess it was a common colour among the S-models.

Oh yeah- no spare, Factory Blau not working, Rear carpet hatch is toast.
No records, no receipts.

Forgot to check: Inspection hole for clutch (Maybe still rubber center?!) AC not checked, headlights not checked- Headlights are sitting low when down, and hood seems bowed..

Note to self- check this when making offer..

Sounds like a really abused car. I'd avoid it unless you are looking to turn it into a track car. With everything that is wrong, most likely there is 2-3x more wrong with it as well.

~$2K or less.

Just save yourself some money, and spend $5k on one that has been taken care of. Its been repainted, so the rare color doesn't really mean too much.

WELL, I'm making my offer tomorrow. car was originally $5700 before the water pump went, I told the PO to check E-bay for realistic prices.

I'm thinking $2700 is the magic number, I'm starting on the negotiation at 2 grand....

This would be watercooled Porsche #4 for me.

Wish me luck!
