Gas in the oil indicates that a plug(s) is not firing and you might check to see a spark with the plug out. That will narrow the search.

There are a variety of different things. How old are your plug wires?

Does it only do this when the car is hot? Maybe your coil isn't putting out the voltage that it should.

Right, so there is some change that the injector or injector harness if flooding that cylinder/ or, there is a change that cylinder had a bad valvetrain. How did the problem start?

Reading through all the posts again I believe that a valve is not closing. Don't run the motor until you check compression.

Sure seems that way to me -- I suppose an injector could be flooding it for some reason, but bad valvetrain seems more likely -- burnt valve, broken spring, bad lifter, etc., especially if it is making mechanical noise in that area when you crank/run it....

seems somewhat unrelated to your problem but, the ticking may go away if you change the oil. fuel thins out .
will destroy bearingss

ticking get faster w/ revs?

Yes, Tom M'Guinn, it does get louder when i rev up the engine, yet i barely rev it up due to the noise. What would make or allow gas into my oil.? Today i'm planning on getting compression checked. Thanks all please keep up the responces.i'll try and change Oil also
