Default 944 prices going up or am I smokin something?

I was looking at 951's on auto trader to see how much better everyone elses is than mine, and HOT DAMN. There are 951s up there for 16-22,000! Double yew tee eff? When I was 16 (2 damn years ago!0 and was looking at other N/as to see how much better they were than mine, nice examples were going from 4-5000. Now theyre like 8000!? The most expensive 951 back then was like 13,000. There was a prestine cabriolet that some guy had that had like 6,000 miles on it and was in a showroom, and he had trouble selling it for 11,000! Now there are cabriolets up there for 16,000.

is it becuase its summer? Are people paying that much for these cars, or are the sellers smokin the gonja?

There's a 968 cabrio in Panorama with 19k miles, nothing special aside from condition. Does $30k sound high? $40k? How about $57k, the actual asking price? Pano is always high, but that's a waste of advertising money if you're serious about that price.

Excellence is recording a good rise in the values of early 944s. '83s were rare enough to start- with maybe half of them crunched or parted, they deserve to be going up.

How many 951s do you think are left standing today?

I check Porsche Classifieds.com from time to time and the same 968's seem to be on there for $22k. The market seems to be about the same. There are 951's on there for $25k, doesn't mean anyone is going to buy them. The N/A's might be creeping up, but the 951 and 968 have seemed fairly steady.

i'm wondering when they are going to run out. seriously, how many have been wrecked in accidents(young teenagers hopped up on boost)? wrecked on the track? timing belt failures (that lead to being parts cars, or just left in the weeds, a barn, etc.)? track toys? they should seem to be RAPIDLY becoming extinct, IMHO.

I'm pretty sure the dismantler industry is causing a lot of 951s to disappear. these damn cars parts are worth more than the car itself. that's a HUGE problem.

Yeah im worried when theyre gonna go too. Werent there only like 27,000 made? Wrecks/Parts cars have probally taken toll on half, with half of that left in North Merica.

I like these and id like to have a couple of them before they all run out.

Then again, you still see some old *** Chevy cars from like the 1970's running around. I dunno.

And with the lower-USD-exchange rate, I have seen people seeking 951's in the US, and shipping them outside. A decent 951 sells for $9K in the US, can sell for double or more in some other countries.

After all, there are only so many decent 951's left running on the streets nowadays. It is really one of the most under-rated cars around...

With best regards,
- Alex.

My 83' i944s not for sale. Neither is the 87' 951! Now my wife wants me to sell them both and buy a Cayenne. That is the only Porsche that she likes!

you can ask whatever crack smoking price you want, but when it all comes down to it...I can't get $7500 for my s2 cab so if you think your cars are suddenly worth a ton of $..you are not too bright.

That must be a misprint on the 19K mile 968 cab, it's been listed for a while in the high twenties. It's a really nice car, I've seen it in person several times but white isn't a popular color with 968 cabs-I don't know why, and that car is a treat.
