I'm getting a 5-spd boxster shift ****.

This is a 6spd boxster S shifter, the nonS is the same except its 5spd instead of 6.

I think, since you like shifting, that you would really like a short shifter kit. Schnell B&M ect sell' em.
I have one and there is such a difference.

There was a post on OT 'bout a guy that got a new ****...

It was stuck in "fifth gear" for several years...

He got around $400,000 in compensation IIRC!!!

I'm going to revive this thread from the gutter w/a question for you guys...

Is installing the short-shift kit a DIY project, or do you need a professional? I drove a 944 w/one & you're right, it was amazing, the difference. Felt so crisp.

Also, would that be the time to change the ****/boot, "while you're in there"? Mine is ripped, and I'd like to put a new one on.

This sounds like a project I'd like to try if it's reasonable, but I don't want to get in over my head, or screw something up. Any thoughts on level of difficulty and time consumption for something like this?

TIA!!!

The Short shift kit is not that hard of a job. The schnell kit actuall comes with detailed instruction. The Mechanism is actually located on top of the Transmission in the rear of the car. It to do the job correctly you should use wire and Loctite when installing. If not the bolts could vibrate loose and then no shift.

www.clarksgarage.com is a good pick. I will post a picture of the item you are replacing.

Oh, so you're not actually anywhere near the ****, are you? Oh well, 2 separate projects, then. The short-shift kit definitely being the priority! Any idea on estimated time for the kit install? (I could probably have access to a lift, and experienced mechanical assistance.)

As for the **** project, and back to the original point of the thread, any pics of aftermarket installs?
