Default Update: I think I grenaded another tranny....

Everytime I go to a track or an AX event, a Rennlister's car at the event suffers a break down.

I just got back from two full days at the track -- good fun sessions, and completely uneventful -- but I was the only RLer. On the drive home, I was actually marveling at how reliable my 944 has been running (the one with the 968 motor). And wouldn't you know it? As I am turning down the final street on my way home, my transmission gives out! None of the gears respond to anything -- I'm thinking I just grenaded the R&P. Thankfully, I managed to literally coast the final 100yds to my house. Arrrgghhh!

PS -- who's going to be at Thunderhill on the 28th?

That sucks, what tranny is it? Just the NA one? Maybe its time for an LSD S2, or 9 speed 968?
I want to track my 944 soon. I think the time will soon be upon me.

You must leave a lot of people wondering at the track "How'd he pass me?"

It's a 944S LSD tranny -- I already grenaded the original NA tranny two years ago. I have a spare 944na LSD tranny, but I'm afraid to put that in now.... I've been searching for a 944S2 LSD tranny, but it's like looking for the Holy Grail....

Often if the R&P strips, the car won't roll at all as the broken teeth will jam it up. I do have a 951 tranny with welded diff. but its pretty much a track only tranny.

It could be something else -- all I heard was a single 'clunk' in the rear -- no roughness like the last time I blew the R&P. I doubt it's the clutch, but could be the torque tube, the coupler,...

I can't do any diagnostic tonight -- it's too dark. In fact, it may have to wait until the weekend....

Can't make it -- not because I don't have a car (got plenty) -- but I'm out of town for a conference.....

I know who has an S2 LSD tranny.... :X

Tough luck though.. good luck finding one.. If I can't figure out what's wrong with my car and have to go to drastic measures, you'll be the first I contact for the tranny.

Devon, if things get to that point, I'd love to have a crack at your tranny -- I hope we don't get to that point though.

Right on. I had the exact same thing happen 2 days after I tracked my 86 n/a. The carrier for the ***** inside the CV broke causing major problems. If you need extra CVs, you know where to get em.
