I cant seem to remember exactly what it is or what its called (funny how certain things can make that happen) but you pressurize (or create a vaccuum?) a container and it sucks the stuff right out

The hose that goes to the top of the p/s pump is a sucktion hose

The hose on the side of the pump is the return hose.

Pull the hose on the side of the pump, it is secured with a short 10mm bolt.

Catch the fluid, take off the p/s reservoir and clean it with petrol or diesel. There is a filter inside, get it cleaned.

I only heard people do this, but never tried it myself, i heard you pull the side hose off (return) and start the car, forcing the pump to pump out all fluid while locking the steering side to side.

The manual indicates to use Dextron ATF 2

i'm pretty convinced it's a pump or rack problem.

although i just went under there and the little boot that i assume is the dust cover for the ball joint is torn .

it's going to my mechanic tomorrow morning, and he should be able to sort it out......

may have already been said. but clunks when turning are most likely a swaybar bushing. if they get any kind of oil/fluid on then they swell and break apart. and just geuss what the underside of the average 944 has all over it... lol

went to the mechanic today, we road tested it, and he couldnt get it to do it until we hit a cloverleaf exit/onramp freeway intersection thing and he had to be doing like, 60 mph to do it.

he says it could be a little valve or gear in the rack that would be stopping power fluid from getting to the right side?

maybe i re-explained wrong.

does that make sense to anyone?
